Keto Ketchup

An Easy Keto Condiment

When I started keto, I looked at the nutrition label for ketchup in the store and it’s generally about 5g of sugars per tablespoon. There are low carb ketchups out there but I find them just too expensive for the amount you get. I decided to make my own and it comes out at a fraction of the price.

I used the Kirkland Signature brand of tomato paste from Costco that is equal to 5 1/4 oz, although any brand will work fine. Add the tomato paste and all other ingredients to a pot and whisk well. Use an immersion blender to smooth it out or put all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30 seconds to smooth out the tomato paste. Place pot on high and bring to a boil.

As soon as the pot comes to a boil, reduce the temperature to medium-low heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until your preferred consistency is reached. Whisk occasionally.

When the right consistency is reached, remove from heat and let cool. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

As a side note, I had some fathead dough in the freezer and thought what better way to use this keto ketchup than as a dip for some old fashioned pigs in a blanket.

To make the pigs in a blanket, prepare the dough using the fathead bagel recipe. Roll the dough out between two sheets of parchment to about 1/4” thick. Wrap hot dog weiners in the dough and bake at 400F for 25 minutes.



  1. Combine all ingredients in a pot. Use an immersion blender or stand up blender to smooth the consistency of the mixture.

  2. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  3. Once the pot starts to boil, immediately turn burner to medium-low and simmer for 30 minutes.

  4. Serve cold. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
